Parks and attractions
Along with the usual opening times and ticket guides for attractions like

monuments like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Palais de Versailles, and of course the Louvre and the Pompidou Centre, we have ticket information on concerts, cabarets and other events.
Classical and Opera
Highlights for the month include
Yo Yo Ma at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées and
Mozart's Don Giovanni in the open air at Invalides. Opera fans are spoiled for choice as
Verdi's La Traviata and
Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet compete for your attention on the 18th, and there are live cinema soundtrack performances small (
Faust and
Nosferatu scored by Jean-Louis Zygel) and large (
Hans Zimmer's Gladiator score played live to the English version of the film by the 21st Century Orchestra with choir accompaniment).

Rock and Pop
Beyoncé and Jay-Z's big shows at the Stade de France dominate the rock and pop schedule for the month. The 13th is sold out (but there's always a way,
right?) and as we go to press there are still tickets available for the 12th. Other notable acts playing Paris in September include US alt darling

Ani DiFranco, rap and R&B enfant terrible
Azealia Banks, Indie maestros
God Is An Astronaut, Japanese metal supergroup

The Libertines. Irish pop songsters
Kodaline play on the 25th, followed by two nights of God's gift to Hawaiian shirts
Jimmy Buffett. Veteran German metal funsters Scorpions and English trip-hop maestros Massive Attack headline the Fête de l'Humanité over three days on the second weekend of the month, and while Joan Baez's residence at L'Olympia starts on the 30th, at the time of writing only her shows on
October 6th and
7th still have tickets available. Unless you know
where to look.

Sport
In football, a promising young
France team play a Spain side hoping to bounce back from their shocking performance in the World Cup in an international friendly at the Stade de France on the 4th, and while current Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain only have one home league game during the month, the draw for the group stage of the Champions' League group takes place at the end of August, so there'll be plenty of high quality soccer to be had down at the Parc des Princes.

Festivals and fairs
The
Festival America on the 13th and 14th in Vincennes is free for under-25s and brings fifty North American and fifty French authors and writers together on the subject of Francophone North Americans - Quebec, Acadia, Louisiana and Haiti. Later in the month, the
Fête des plantes d'Automne - the Autumn Flower Show - brings together 200 horticultural specialists at the Chateau de St. Jean de Beauregard, 28kms outside the city.
